Re: (ASCEND) Token Ring and Pipe 75?
The configuration he wants is doable, but he will have to install an
ethernet card in one of his token ring machines, set up that machine as a
bridge between the token ring and the ethernet, then connect the Pipeline
on the ethernet to route to whatever WAN connection he wants.
All of this depends strongly on the machine that will bridge the two
different network topologies.
I once set up some old Apollo (quasi Unix) machines that were on a token
ring to do exactly what is described above. It worked fine for quite some
time with a mixed network of the Apollo token ring communicating with an
ethernet connected SUN Sparc, Win95 machines, and a Pipeline 75. One of
the Apollos did the bridging between the token ring and the ethernet.
