RE: (ASCEND) VPN - PPTP

Here is the deal (someone please correct me if I'm wrong):

Using PPTP on the Client computer:

Client	[Makes two connections:  PPP, then PPTP over PPP]
  |   \
 PPP   PPTP
  |       |
 NAS      |
  |       |
Internet  |  
  |       |
 PPTP_Server
  |
Private_Net


Using PPTP on the NAS:

Client	[Makes one connection:  PPP]
  |   
 PPP
  |     
 NAS---PPTP
  |       |
Internet  |
  |       |
 PPTP_Server
  |
Private_Net

The reason to setup the NAS to be the PPTP client is
to simplify things for the end user.

Also, using the NAS as the PPTP client allows secure
dialup access to a private network, without opening
the client computer up to attacks from the Internet.
Because the Client computer can only send/receive from
the Private Network.
