(ASCEND) Intermittent loss routes?

I am also having a similiar problem where the user dials in and gets
connected to the net for awhile. Then the modem activity stops, their line
is still connected, but they cannot get to any servers. It's like all
protocols stop working. After reading this thread, I started seeing a
pattern that all of the modems that seem to have this problem are USR
modems. What exactly is the USR bug problem? Is this reported somewhere
on their web page? Are there any patches or upgrades?
