Re: (ASCEND) Setting 56k data-rate per user
Unfortunately it's not possible, As the Modem connection has to
be established before any authentication takes place, thus the speed
of the data call is already up and running when you start to talk to
the radius server. I don't think there is a way to tell the modem to
train down on purpose to a lower speed.
There are alternatives, Maybe you can get ascend to put in a feature
that does modem emulation based on dialed number for instance
almost the same way Data Over voice works, You get a PRI and point
2 numbers at it tell the Max to answer one phone number w/ K56 the
other w/ V.34. (But I don't think they will implement it)
The easiest way / most costly is for you to do different hunt groups/
maxes,
Have a K56 Max and a V.34 Max and point them at different authentication
servers, thus only K56 users would authenticate off the K56 Max and only
V.34 users would authenticate off the V.34 Max.
