Re: (ASCEND) Windows95 p/w prompt?
Sorry to jump onto this so late, but we were having essentially the same
problem, but the cause was determined to be one of MFS's "SONET rings" in
CA. Since you're in CA, I'm wondering if you use them for your incoming
service? What happened to us, (Yes, they tried to blame it on PacBell
first) was that calls to some of our numbers were actually being routed to
another ISP's equipment that was being fed off the same "SONET ring".
while we all know that this should never happen, it did. The other ISP
was using MAXEN, but with the default Promts, instead of the custome ones
that we have. This is how we figured out that the calls were not getting
connected to our equipment, and why the username/passwd combo's were being
rejected.
Try customizing your prompts, and then do 10-20 manual logins to see if
you're reaching your MAX ever time.
