Re: (ASCEND) Access control version numbers?

AAC 1.0Ap3 is the latest Patch Release for Access Control. This version of
the software incorporates all the bug fixes that have been implemented
since Access Control was released.

The most current software with all the bug fixes plus a large number of new
features is 1.0Ai10 It is quite possible that when upgrading form 1.0Ai5
to 1.0Ap3, you will lose certain features and enhancements that have not
yet been ported to the "P" branch of code. This may be the case with the
file in question (/etc/rc2.d/S81radius from v1.2 to version 1.1.2.1)

The reason for the 2 branches is plain to see; not every customer wishes to
use all the bells and whistles with AAC and will stick with the "P" branch
of code. However, the incremental branch of the AAC code is very stable as
well. Currently, there are a very small number of open TRs (Trouble
Reports) that have been reported to TAC/Engineering concerning this
product.

Unless you require one of the features in the Incremental Releases, there
is no immediate need for you to go through the upgrade process again. You
can see the list of features in the 1.0Ai10 Cumulative Release Notes on

Subject: (ASCEND) Access control version numbers?

I was shipped Access Control version 1.0Ai5 on CDROM.

I attempted to "upgrade" to 1.0Ap3 from the FTP site.
This supposedly is three cumulative patch releases over
version 1.0A;... Right?

Well, it looks like during the "upgrade", I DOWNGRADED
/etc/rc2.d/S81radius from v1.2 to version 1.1.2.1. Who
knows what else was downgraded.

So, does anyone know the version situation? Are "i"s
better than "p"s, or was the file downgrade just an
error.

I wish Ascend used patches, instead of making me uninstall
and install the whole package.

TIA for any info.
