Make sure the phonecenter app is dead- kill it with a STICK. Then
blow the communications package in control panel...add new software..
Windows setup and re-install it. For some reason, a lot of Compaqs
come with "everything" installed in "network" but it's not really
there. Simply deleting the stuff in Network and re-adding it won't
work; you have to blow the entire communications package.
This has fixed most of our "improper network protocol" type errors,
of which Compaq and IBM are prime offenders...
This also happens if a user simply "skips" the "Please insert Win95
CD" part during installation of DUN. It _says_ tcp/ip is there, but
it's not- and you have to blow the comm package to get it to look
at the CD again, otherwise it will keep pretending to load it.
