(ASCEND) IPX SAP PROXY Server

Under the Ethernet menu, go under Mod Config, followed by Ether Options, 
IPX SAP Proxy Net # = (central network's external network number), where
central network external number is the ENET# on a MAX or Pipeline?
In the documentation it mentions other SAP PROXY Servers. My Pipeline
is connected to a cisco 7000 that filters all outgoing SAPS. According
to the documentation when all SAPS are prevented from going through
the link the PIPELINE forwards SAPS on behalf of the client to
a IPX SAP Proxy Server. Again other than a MAX or Pipeline, what
device can act as a ipx sap proxy server? If the router is filtering
all saps why would not the IPX SAP Proxy request be filtered out too?
