Dunno. I've tried with my own analog dialup equipment (Supra K56flex
internal, Courier V.everything, & a V.90 Sportster PCMCIA) and hasn't seem
to make a difference either way. The only real check box I've had trouble
with when off is "Use default gateway on remote network."  Perhaps with the
USR Winmodems it might affect it, or some of those Lucent models in the
HP/Compaq/IBM's.
