(ASCEND) Another Ascend product to use with BGP4??? (fwd)
Once upon a time Mauricio Teixeira shaped the electrons to say...
> Some folks told me it's not possible to use BGP4 routing with an
>Ascend Max 4000, so can somebody tell me if there is another product from
>Ascend that can do?
Well, the GRF, and I believe the IP Navigator, do BGP4. It has been promised
on the TNT for ages and ages, but still an empty promise AFAIK.
If you're willing to look beyond Ascend, at the low end the Lucent IRX
router will handle BGP but it is admittedly on the low end of the power
band. Their PM-3 and PM-4 also do BGP, and sustain it quite well.
And, of course, Cisco does BGP well, I'd use a 3600 series or higher on
the router side, or the AS5300 for access servers.
