(ASCEND) P75 Will only connect at 56K
Hi, Gang. I posted a question about a month ago, that said I was all
of a sudden having a very hard time connecting to my ISP..
After making every chenge imaginable on my end, and my ISP doing all
he could, we both turned our attention to my Teleco..
Someone from this list suggested I try to connect at 56K, which I
did. If I try to connect at 64K I will be successful about 3 or 4
times out of 15, when I try to connect at 56K I am successful 15 out
of 15 times..
My Teleco insists they are 64K from my phone company Alltel, to my
ISP's Teleco Bell South, but apparently they are not. (My Teleco had
told me 1 year ago that they were only 56K when connecting to Bell
south, so I waited to get ISDN until they told me that problem was
corrected.)
I got ISDN in November 1997, and all was fine until one weekend in
late March 1998, when this problem began, and how now persisted..
So here are my questions:
1) I am still assuming that my problems connecting at 64K have nothing
to do with my ISP. Is there a Radius profile (my ISP uses Ascend
equipment) for 56K connections, like the Pipeline has?? Maybe he has
it set incorrectly for me??
2) What can I ask/tell the telephone company to do/check to see if
they are 64K all the way to Bell South?? They claim they are, and say
they have checked the line.. Could the problem be on Bell South's
end??
I am wide open to suggestions, and feel this problem should really be
fixable now that I have narrowed it down this far.
Thanks for all replies,
-- John
