In neither case do you say that you set your NT server's gateway (or router) address in its TCP/IP configuration. It should be the IP address of your P75 in either option. Also, the P75's default static route should be set to the IP address of the ISP's dial-in server (I suspect the ISP has already done this). >Ascend claims that my ISP is at fault because they should not assign a >static address to me but rather assign a dynamic one.... The P75 works fine for us with a static IP address and NAT, using 5.0Ai23. > >So who is at fault? Are there anyways to rectify the situation? >I am seriously considering dropping my ISP account to another provider or >returning the P75 and get a Cisco 700 series... Having worked extensively on Cisco 700 series routers, I can say that they are not worth the trouble. The software quality, support, and ease of use are much lower than Ascend's. While Ascend gear does require expertise to set up (it has a lot of options, after all), they're the number one box among ISPs for a good reason. Systematic testing, where you only change one variable at a time, is the key to diagnosing any network problem.
