While I rarely chime in on the list unless you hit a "hot button", I
am a user of a variety of Ascend equipment, including a P75's at home
and various work sites and I have to vehemently agree with David
Lesher's note. The behavior described makes no engineering sense and
will certainly delay any upgrade of my "old" P75's firmware. It also
makes the P75 distinctly less flexible and thus less useful in an
increasingly competitive environment, where I have to connect to a
variety of customer infrastructures.
I would strongly suggest that a TR be opened on this and that
engineering be "encouraged" to pay attention to the problem.
