Re: (ASCEND) Who's fault? P75 or my ISP. Cannot get on the Net.

In neither case do you say that you set your NT server's gateway (or 
router) address in its TCP/IP configuration. It should be the IP address 
of your P75 in either option.  Also, the P75's default static route 
should be set to the IP address of the ISP's dial-in server (I suspect 
the ISP has already done this).

The P75 works fine for us with a static IP address and NAT, using 
5.0Ai23.

Having worked extensively on Cisco 700 series routers, I can say that 
they are not worth the trouble. The software quality, support, and ease 
of use are much lower than Ascend's. While Ascend gear does require 
expertise to set up (it has a lot of options, after all), they're the 
number one box among ISPs for a good reason. Systematic testing, where 
you only change one variable at a time, is the key to diagnosing any 
network problem. Good luck.
