(ASCEND) pipeline 5.1A NAT/LAN tests
just a few observations from several hours of testing NAT
for LAN on a new model p50(w/POTS) and an older p50 (w/switch)
under release 5.1a with a IP single address.
performing NAT on an inbound call, or during a callback from the remote
(where the remote side places call to the pipeline doing NAT)
will only work when there is some authentication method (PAP/CHAP)
sent from the remote to the pipeline. I could not find any documentation
that specified one way or the other if this is the expected behavior.
I would get:
>PPPIF: open: routeid 8, incoming YES
>PPPIF-2: vj comp on
>PPPIF-2: _initAuthentication
>PPPIF-2: auth mode 0 [RECV Auth=None]
>PPPIF-2: no auth
>PPPIF-2: Link Is up.
>PPPIF-2: pppMpNegUntimeout last 0 layer 0
>PPPIF-2: pppMpNegUntimeout last 0 layer 0
>PPPIF-2: LCP Opened, local 'Answer', remote ''
>PPPIF-2: _openAuthentication
>PPPIF-2: Auth Opened
>PPPIF-2: Forcing STATE_OPENED
>PPPIF-2: Remote hostName is ''
>PPPIF-2: prep MP bundle for
>PPPIF-2: No profile with name ''
>_authOpened:ss->mpID == 0:Answer
>PPPIF-2: new MP bundle
>PPPIF-2: First channel, MpID 37
>PPPIF: Assigning vjInfo (2BFC50) and bncpInfo(2B6C86)
>PPPIF-2: opening CCP
>PPPIF-2: pppMpSendNeg Pkt
>PPPIF-2: pppMpNegTimeout layer 6
>PPPIF-2: opening IPNCP: 198.178.171.129 -> 0.0.0.0
[198.178.171.129 is p50 running NAT]
>PPPIF-2: pppMpSendNeg Pkt
>PPPIF-2: pppMpNegTimeout layer 4
>PPPIF-2: pppMpSendNeg Pkt
>PPPIF-2: pppMpSendNeg Pkt
>PPPIF-2: pppMpNegUntimeout last 0 layer 6
>PPPIF-2: pppMpNegUntimeout last 0 layer 6
>PPPIF-2: CCP Opened
>PPPIF-2: pppMpNegUntimeout last 0 layer 4
>PPPIF-2: pppMpSendNeg Pkt
>PPPIF-2: pppMpNegUntimeout last 0 layer 4
>PPPIF-2: IPNCP Opened to 205.142.28.6
[205.142.28.6 is remote MAX unit]
>NAT: setXlat ifNum 2; dynamicIp 0; localIp 0.0.0.0
