I'm sure there are certain failures on ANY platform that won't bring the
whole system down...  just as there are certain failures that will.  I
have had a modem fail on a Max and the box couldn't have cared less, but
I'm sure that if a bus transceiver locks up on a PM3, it's going down --
like anything else would.
