Re: (ASCEND) Authentication times

Be sure to turn off software-compression in DUN as well as "log on to
network". These two add considerable time to DUN logins. My ppp session
from home (on linux) takes about 5 seconds from the time my password goes
out to the time I have my IP address. Alternately- if you are
authenticating with RADIUS, you may want to run the DBM version of the
authentication daemon- after 1,000 users in the passwd file, DBM produces
a measurable improvement. But if this is only with Win95- then turn off
all the MS garbage in the DUN entry. Or upgrade DUN to 1.2- it is _much_
better than the stock DUN with 95a or 95b.
