(ASCEND) Compaq 33.6K internal?
We have a user with a (fairly) new Compaq Pentium machine, and its
factory Compaq "33.6K upgradeable to 56K" internal modem. He's
completely unable to connect to any of our Maxen with 12mod K56
cards, one running 5.0Ap20, the other with Ap16. He can connect to
our few remaining analog modems with no problem, but not the Maxen.
I can't seem to find any reference to this modem in any of the
sources I have for init strings. An ATI3 command to the modem
results int eh modems proclaiming itself a "Compaq 33.6K" modem...
but we really don't know who actually made the sucker. The rest of
the information returned by the Win95 diags didn't provide any really
useful information, at least not while I had the rather
"computer-illiterate" (his words, not mine) user on the phone.
Anyone run into this animal and found a fix?
