We've done a lot of testing in this area - we found LQM to be effective
for all types of connections. Yes - we have observed the same pauses in
traffic (or straight connection lockups) over ISDN, analog.... LQM doesn't
cure it entirely - it just stops the connection locking up and may even
keep the latency down if the box isn't terribly busy.
I notice someone just today on the list mention their connection goes to
sleep - with FreeBSD. If someone tries to tell me it's because they've
got a faulty modem I think I'll scream.
I HAVE HAD IT UP TO HERE WITH THIS BULLSHIT.
Sure, some modems are better than others - some of them a lot better.
But I'm not asking for ATMP, the Mickey Mouse Protocol, RADIUS Episode
IIII Part IV, all I want is a box my users can login to, and download
files without locking up.
I'M NOT ASKING FOR ROCKET SCIENCE HERE.
