It helped, but I also needed to install OS-clibs-development-... Now everything seems to be kosher. Thank you very much. This is minor, but the icons at the bottom of the screen are kind of big. Is there a way to shrink them? I looked at "Desktop settings" but didn't figure out how to do it.
