I've been hosting a server running mail, website, photo gallery, shell
access, as a VM with a friend's business for some time. Things are changing
and I need to find a new place to host the "server". 15 years ago I would
have had a physical server co-located at an ISP. These days having a
virtual server seems the way to go.

I've started looking at Amazon, Linode and Digital Ocean. It looks like
Amazon and Digital Ocean are the best deal, but I'd like to hear from
others. Note that I'm not looking at a site like BlueHost or other web
hosting companies because I would like to maintain shell access and be able
to run long running processes like Jenkins.

Does anyone here have experience with a for this kind of hosting? Do you
have a recommendation?

Thank you
Jon
