centos6 for clients, the updates are good for 10 years, so avoids the
pointless upgrade mill, defacto standard distro base for important and free
platforms eg openvz, inside which i mostly run centos6 containers, some
(desktopless minimal) ubuntu.

home was wonover by ubuntu years ago because it had the drivers for my
ancient hardware with no extra effort, lubuntu nowadaze, no unity, twm
still my fav, low overhead, huge repository, defacto standard distro base
for noncommercial software, a couple on precise because no pressure to
upgrade, main box on trusty hence firefox uptodate.
