Huh. My mail server is the only machine I still haven't upgraded to 14.04, 
and now I don't want to!

Well, first, "log" appears to be a file, so mkdir is a bad idea (;

Now the only idea I have is going

$dirpath="/tmp";

and seeing if that helps...

Worst case I'd almost disable making a log altogether.
