I recently purchased my own cable modem because the internet service provider I use was surcharging me a monthly fee for using their cable modem. I am wondering If I could have just purchased a lesser priced DOCSIS 2.0 cable modem? I ended up purchasing a DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem without a built in wireless router.
