interesting, glad to learn of docker.  however, UnionFS, which is used by
docker, is a perhaps similar concept, but, orthogonal to the issue of
manifesting a linux filesystem, without using a virtual partition, on top
of a filesystem that does not satisfy the minimum requirements of a linux
filesystem
