I'm not saying you HAVE to be worried about physical access. My main 
point, and this is considering my over-a-decade experience in data 
security, is that if someone REALLY wants your data THAT badly, they will 
get it. If someone wants your data badly enough to break into your house, 
steal your computer and beat you up for the password, then you're out of 
luck (:

If you're just trying to make sure that nobody can access your data if you 
lose your laptop somewhere, then yeah, encryption and strong passwords are 
the way to go. Same if you have roommates you trust, but not THAT much.
