+1, SL often quicker with initial releases, centos often quicker with
routine updates, i find rhel/centos/SL to be completely compatible, i'm
happy with the stability and long support life.  packages that aren't
available from rhel, centos, or SL are usually available from either dag
(excellent maintenance), puias, remi, epel (a tad less reliable), and/or a
few others.
