I got lucky and found a huge desk that a computer store was getting rid of for only $100. It's about 6'x30" and built out of an aluminum and carboard honeycomb top that's terribly strong and yet lightweight. I don't like not facing the door either; but ATM I find it far more useful to face the windows looking out over my driveway and front yard.
