I can vouch for the Ubuntu One service. It's good for 2Gb free storage and you can give people a web interface to upload or download files to you. It also can be setup to automatically sync with a personal folder on your computer. Only drawback is that AFAIK the only GUI clients are for Gnome and KDE.
