while i can't speak to the packages containing sender/receiver.  i  
have done a fair amount of multicast network testing.  is there  
something specific that you're looking for?

if you're playing w/VLC i surmise you're doing video testing and VLC  
will let you act as a server(source) as well as a receiver.  it's  
been a while since i've used it, but the darwin streaming server from  
apple and the associated quicktime clients will support SDP and  
multicast source streaming.
