I'm not sure about the encryption part for NFS (perhaps there is a way to run ReiserFS over the net?) but, as a minimum, you could run NFS in a secure net (think VPN) between the NAS device and clients. What a strange and interesting box! It's really hard to tell from the various websites what the real vitality is of this thing... some of the pages are 2 years old and some of the forum postings are recent. Have you, or anyone you know, had experience with the Kurobox?
