Sounds like a potential issue with the motherboard. You may want to
check their
support site and see if there are any known issues where it flakes out 
due to
having an IDE and SATA drive installed. I haven't heard of this before, 
but I
could understand how it would happen. Maybe a bios update would resolve it.

-----Look through your BIOS settings carefully.  Make sure you have it 
set to boot from your SATA drive first, etc.  On my Asus board, there 
are several settings on multiple pages that need to be correct.  It was 
not initially obvious what to do.
