I thought about it some more and thought maybe I got the solution backwards. I use my XP boxes to store/access files off the Linux server through Samba. So, I tried accessing the XP SP2 box from a Linux command prompt. It worked too (clipped for brevity and security): smbclient //white/G$ -Uadministrator Password: Domain=[WHITE] OS=[Windows 5.1] Server=[Windows 2000 LAN Manager] smb: \> dir Program Files DA 0 Mon Sep 6 15:42:26 2004 RECYCLER DHS 0 Thu Jan 9 22:22:48 2003 WINDOWS DA 0 Mon Sep 6 15:28:22 2004 58306 blocks of size 1048576. 12838 blocks available smb: \> ============================ Daniel Rysztak, CCNP http://www.druids-grove.net/ -----Original Message----- From: tclug-list-bounces at mn-linux.org [mailto:tclug-list-bounces at mn-linux.org]On Behalf Of Jon Schewe Sent: Wednesday, September 08, 2004 9:31 PM To: silwenae at silwenae.com; TCLUG Mailing List Subject: Re: [TCLUG] XP SP2 and Samba no work? That bug report doesn't seem to fit. The reporter is able to connect, just after a long time. I'm actually getting permission denied right away.
