I would give Mandrakelinux 10.1 a shot.  Official should hit the mirrors here 
real soon now.  I have been using 10.1 for a little while now and have been 
extremely pleased with it.  My girlfriend is even running it.  She has had 
very little problem with it, other than UofM course material requiring 
Windows.  WTF?
