I understand your point, but I must say I actually liked how the beer 
meetings moved around.  It was nice to visit the different drinking
establishments and put some variety into life.  I think it was only 
fair to move around so folks from different areas could attend a beer 
meeting in their neighborhood at least some of the time.  Moving the
location eliminated transportation issues for some and, allowed others 
to make it to a meeting otherwise impossible.  Say you worked in 
Woodbury and the beer meeting was in Minnetonka; it's highly unlikely 
you'd be able to make it across town in time to attend.

I always thought it was kind of "the beer meeting is going to be at
<location> on <date/time>.  If you can make it great, if not see you at
another one."

The reason I haven't been to many in recent times is mainly financial.
No job == no money == no beer :(

When I get working again, I would plan to attend when I could.  I
enjoyed the beer meetings.  It was nice to unplug for a while and
socialize with others.  I miss them.
