Debian stable, unstable, or what?

IIRC, testing and above will automatically configure SSL for you, assuming
you have openssl and all that stuff installed. Basically, just have to
drop a certificate in as /etc/ssl/certs/imapd.pem, and enable the
additional services in inetd/xinetd.
