I've installed Fed3 and, logged in as a regular user, a few of the
CD-ROM-dependent apps say I don't have permission. So everytime I start
up the machine I do a "chmod 666 /dev/hdb" (actual device according to
Hardware Browser) as root. That's step 1. Step 2 is to tell everything
that uses my cd to use /dev/hdb instead of .../cdrom or .../dvd in
settings. So my question is, how do I correct this situation, i.e., how
do I tell Fed3 to let regular users use the CD, and how/where do I make
the link between the raw device /dev/hdb and the virtual devices cdrom
and dvd?
