Well, perhaps obvious, but check your BIOS to see if you can play with
the setting there. Else, you probably need to configure X to know a
second monitor is there, because it doesn't just know how to deal with
it. (Windows is very good with this sort of thing though.)

Try creating a screen config in your XF86Config, change your XServer
Layout and see if that second output will work alone. Check here:
