You may be referring to Smart Boot Manager... http://btmgr.sourceforge.net/index.php3?body=about.html It worked quite well to boot from the CDROM on an old 486 of mine. It can be installed in the MBR or a floppy, similar, with more options than the previously mentioned GAG.
