Yes. You are missing your keyboard and console - the input layer has
been extensively reworked.

Make sure you have 

   ONFIG_INPUT_KEYBOARD=y
   CONFIG_KEYBOARD_ATKBD=y
   CONFIG_VT=y
   CONFIG_VT_CONSOLE=y
   CONFIG_HW_CONSOLE=y

in your .config.
