So I found two great deals, one for an HP ze5125, the other for a Compaq 1525us. Our friend Google returned a couple of helpful pages about running Linux on the ze5125, but nada on the 1525us. Since HP and Compaq are one big happy family these days, support should be equally good (or bad) for both. The price difference is $20. The HP has an ATI Mobility Radeon, while the Compaq has an ATI Radeon IGP. Other specs are just about equal (although the Compaq has USB2, which is a definite plus in its favor).
