I know this is a crappy answer, but I would either ask this on a bb/flux
mailing list or forum (or head to #fluxbox on OPN (or whatever it's
called now). If that fails, try asking on a KDE forum or list. My bet
though is you'll find an answer in a flux forum or list. Perhaps try
gentoo's forum in the desktop environment section.

No one responded the first time I posted this, so I'll try again:

I'm having a weird problem trying to use KDE with fluxbox. When I
startup
KDE and tell it to use fluxbox (by setting KDEWM=fluxbox), it starts up
the
KDE desktop as a single, large window that covers the fluxbox toolbar
and
slit. You can resize/move/kill this window and get to the usual
fluxbox
stuff behind it (see screenshot at [1]).

I want all the KDE stuff *except* the desktop because I like the usual
fluxbox desktop. I've looked in the startkde script, but it doesn't
start
the desktop -- something else in the startup process does.

Does anyone know how I could configure KDE to do everything but start
the
desktop?

Thanks,

Dan
