http://www.squirrelmail.org/ Advantages: minimal frills, simple to install, few requirements, easy to add plugins, many plugins available, actively developed, etc... Disadvantages: debian stable's PHP version doesn't support IMAP/SSL so you're probably best to run the IMAP server on the same box as the webmail box, unless you have a trusted network.
