I was thinking Linux is more suited to computer programming instruction, but I think typing tutor, office, and photoshop are bad examples of what linux "can't" do right now, with the possible exception of typing tutor (haven't used one recently, don't know). And I don't think limiting desktops to browsers wastes as much money as other "activities": upgrading software "to be compatible" or to "fix bugs", and replacing hardware and software on a 3 year "business" cycle. "Business cycle" -- hehe -- as if they were making money. --- Troy Johnson - troy.johnson at health.state.mn.us Programmer / System Administrator Minnesota Cancer Surveillance System - MDH >>> waynej at dccmn.com 12/18/03 10:18 PM >>> Yea, there are those that think it's capable of doing anything, but a school desktop is a lot more than just a web browser. Any school that limits it to that is wasting the tax payers money. HCA will be offering a dynamic web class this spring with Apache, PHP and MySql. _______________________________________________ TCLUG Mailing List - Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota http://www.mn-linux.org tclug-list at mn-linux.org https://mailman.real-time.com/mailman/listinfo/tclug-list
