On page 23 of the PDF document of this tutorial I found some XP tips: http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/esdd/tutorials/samba.html They might be worth looking at. I think both 'smbmount' and 'mount -t smbfs' use 'mount.smbfs' or something close. I forget the specifics (if I knew them), but I think the only real differences are the options allowed.
