Is there a moderately accurate description of what a megapixel is?  I
have a couple of guesses (a million pixels, the number of pixels at
1024x768, etc), but I don't really know..

For example, what's a 1600x1200 camera come out to?  I figure I'd like
to at least have a camera that is capable of giving me a new desktop
background ;-)
