Does anybody have experience setting up Samba as a PDC for Windows XP clients? I have followed http://www1.ibm.com/servers/esdd/tutorials/samba/index.html but I am still stumped. I am getting authentication errors, and it seems in part to be because it can not read the /usr/local/private/smbpasswd file. It gets permission denied to open it. I change the attributes to world readable (I know -- uck!) and it sets the attributes back and then can not access it. Funny it should be so self defeating.
