"Full" is a relative term. If you "fully" installed RedHat in "Workstation
mode then you don't have many "servers" installed. pop3d is a daemon - a
server. There is no reason for a workstation to serve POP3 clients.

Short answer: PROCess incoming MAIL.

Long answer: It (sorts your mail into bins)|forwards|rejects based on a 
set of rules you specify in a configuration file.
