I actually setup an exim filter on my personal account to "resend" these
mails to thier errant sysadmin with a note that said "your autoresponder
should not be answering mailing lists and postmaster mail"

Perhaps after he got a couple of them he decided to fix it. Perhaps the
person unsubscribed himself.
