I am merely a weenie, but I can safely tell you that Linux, at least
with the 2.4 kernel series has no problem with swap partitions over
128MB>

I have a swap partition that is 800 MB at the moment. While that is less
than my RAM x2 it doesn't really get touched anyway.

I am wondering why you need 1.6 GB of swap.
